EPC Constructions India Ltd. (formerly Essar Projects India Ltd.) is one of India's most storied and capable Engineering, Procurement & Construction contractors. Established in 1969 as part of the Essar conglomerate, the company built its reputation executing India's most complex mega-projects across hydrocarbons, power, pipelines, offshore platforms, ports and industrial infrastructure.

Acquired by Freight Wings Pvt. Ltd. through NCLT proceedings, EPC Constructions India Ltd. is now in a resurgent phase — combining a heritage of deep engineering capability with fresh strategic direction and renewed commercial energy. The company carries forward its rich legacy under new ownership while retaining its core of experienced engineers, project managers, and construction professionals.

A Legacy Built Over 55+ Years

From India's first offshore contractor to a full-spectrum EPC leader

Foundation as Essar Projects

Established as a construction arm of the Essar Group, taking on early civil and structural projects in India's growing industrial landscape.

1969

1980s

India's First Offshore Contractor

Became the first Indian company to venture into offshore construction, executing the Bassein field WIPPM project for ONGC.

Hydrocarbon Mega Projects

Executed multi-billion dollar EPC contracts for Essar's Vadinar refinery — one of India's largest single-location refinery builds.

1990s

2000s

International Expansion

Extended global footprint into Middle East, Africa, and Australasia. Executed refinery projects in Nigeria, steel plant projects in Australia and the Middle East.

Incorporation as EPC Constructions India Ltd.

Formally restructured and incorporated as EPC Constructions India Limited — a standalone EPC entity. CIN: U99999MH1989PLC053280.

2016

ONGC Offshore Platform Commissioning

Successfully commissioned four offshore well platforms for ONGC — C-26 Cluster (Tapti field) and B-173 AB (Neelam field) — in consortium with Saipem.

NCLT Resolution Process

Entered NCLT resolution process. Company's assets and capabilities remain intact throughout the process, with operations maintained across project sites.

Acquisition by Freight Wings Pvt. Ltd.

Freight Wings Pvt. Ltd. — a leading provider of heavy lifting, transportation and installation services — successfully bid for EPC Constructions India Ltd. in the 8th Round of Auction under NCLT proceedings.
